Day 5

“Let my people go.” Moses

Now where were we…. Better yet where are we? Is anyone else wondering how we landed in this “Not so enchanted forest” of an economy? Or better yet… How to get out? For those of you who are just tuning in, I’m talking about these most interesting of times that we are in and how we might create a new way forward… and to possibly gain our freedom. That is if you are interested in that sort of thing, because we do get pretty comfortable rationalizing our constraints and they are if nothing else, familiar to us.

I would advocate for your take a close look at exploring your own personal liberation. The old Faustian deal that we made in which we traded away our freedom for a little piece of what was described as security has come unstuck… or haven’t you noticed that this old living arrangement is starting to feel like it’s not working?

Instead, you find yourself in the midst of a major economic transition with layoffs, shrinking budgets, and clients that are not so much looking for a creative solution as a quick fix. Has the fun factor been replace by fear and loathing in what ever city you now find yourself?

Are you on the threshold of loosing your job, or have lost your job, not to mention that connection to your original passion for entering your chosen field in the first place? Maybe you just want to find a way to reignite your passion for what you are doing where you are right now and feel stuck when you try to imagine how you might feel inspired again.

We can all feel that something has shifted under our feet and that change is in the air… because it really truly has this time around.

But mostly you’re wondering not only how you got here in the first place, but where are you going to go from here.

The economic mess we are in right now is not something that we can side step or make go away with a slight of hand. It is in fact a creation of our own doing, resulting in part from decades of collective unconscious behavior regarding our limits as the inhabitants of a planet with finite resources. We also are way to familiar, or should be, with what has happened in the last eight to ten years, and the role that that played in creating the fall… then of course there is Wall Street inhabitants and there’s little doubt that they certainly helped to accelerate and seal the deal that had been made in 2000.

That was a quick fast forward as to how we all got here in the first place. But where are you going to go from here?

With that in mind, suggest that we pick back up with our discussion that we started yesterday on freedom. I’m reminded of the original Freedom story, aka Moses and his call to “Let my people go”. How does “Let my people go” and Moses leading his people out of slavery fit into all of this? Well if we are going to figure out just how to extricate ourselves from this predicament that we find ourselves in and gain our freedom, then we need to explore some liberation strategies and get some traction for moving forward.

Before you get yourself all charged up about your new found freedom you need to be invested in something called your liberation, because liberation is the critical phase that needs to be taken before anything approaching freedom can happen.

But it all starts by taking that first step…entering into a safe place with a guide, where you can tap into your courage and create a vision for moving forward so that you can not only ensure your own survival, but will eventually thrive.
